A good employee handbook can be an employment lawyers best friend. A bad handbook can be an employer’s worst enemy. This discussion will discuss the importance of implementing a strong handbook, the critical provisions to include, and the pitfalls to avoid.

While the recent legalization of marijuana for recreational use has been front page news, far less attention has been paid to the burden placed on California employers to address the wishes of their employees while also maintaining legal compliance. This discussion will go over the protections afforded to employees and the obligations owed by employers, but also the rights that are still held by employers and the extent to which it is acceptable (and advisable) for those rights to be exercised.
